Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
If “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self” as stated in the Bhagavad Gita, then yoga travel provides the scenery along the way and for yogi’s who like to travel, a travel yoga mat is an absolute essential. It saves the need for a bulkier, heavier mat, and fits neatly inside even the smallest of carry on-luggage.
Ideally, a travel yoga mat should be lightweight, sticky, durable and if possible foldable & eco-friendly. Recently, I’ve been zipping around London and flying across the Atlantic with my Jade Yoga Travel Mats, which tick all the boxes.
I use both the Jade Yoga Travel Mat ($59.95 USD / 24 inches wide, 68 inches long, 1/8 inch thick / 3 pounds heavy / rolls up) and the Jade Yoga Voyager Mat ($34.95 USD, 24 inches wide, 68 inches long, 1/16 inch thick / 1.5 pounds heavy / foldable). Both mats are made sustainably with natural rubber tapped from rubber trees, a renewable resource and unlike other mats contains no PVC, EVA or other synthetic rubber. They are made in the USA in compliance with all US environmental, labour and consumer protection laws. And, Jade plants a tree for every mat sold – with over 850,000 trees planted so far.
The mats complement my home yoga mat, which is also made from natural rubber. Once you switch to a natural rubber mat, you will never go back. They feel better, smell better, grip better, last longer and have less impact on the planet.
For non-yogi’s looking for a little yoga inspiration, yoga can help erase a long, cramped car ride or flight from your body’s memory. It also can help relax you after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings and energise you after hours spent reading books on the beach. It truly is the best thing to do while travelling; you only really need yourself, some asana-friendly clothing and a mat.
