Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
“You don’t take a photograph, you make it” – Ansel Adams
I love photography and art; looking at something, doing a double take and then realising there’s more than meets the eye. Nick Delaney, London based photographer, is one of those creatives who makes me look twice at everything he does. From his portraits, cityscapes, film & TV photography, pop art and urban architecture shots, I love how he builds each photo, creating depth where you least expect it and stillness amidst complexity.
When Nick recently asked me if I would like to be a part of his Flexile Geometry Project, there was no way I could turn down his offer. The Flexile Geometry Project is a collection of images constructed from his shoots with contortionists, hand balancers, yoga experts, dancers, hula hoopers and other flexible humans. Using Photoshop he then pieces the images together to create mandalas, fractals, characters and designs.
For the shoot, I spent a fun afternoon stretching out into various yoga poses with Nick at his studio in East London, along with Lily, his gorgeous little dog. Nick is the most easy going and personable photographer I’ve met, so between poses, we ended up swapping stories about our summer and playing with Lily!
The end result was incredible, Nick pieced together and duplicated my photos to create an eye catching mandala titled ‘Life Cycling’ (see the first image in the article), which from far away simply looks like a pattern but up close, you can see every single asana. Here are some close ups:
I am so honoured to be a part of this project, it’s innovative, fun, unique and striking. It’s exciting to be featured in a piece of art and a fantastic way to get creative with yoga.
