Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
A testament of any good restaurant is whether you’re willing to ‘travel’ to get there, meaning if you really have to go out of your way to get there, it must be good! One restaurant which is worth the trip is Hide & Seed.
In the heart of Putney, tucked away inside The Lodge Hotel is Hide & Seed, a plushly decorated, warm and inviting farm-to-table restaurant. If you enjoy fine British fare with a twist, this is the place for you. Whether you are local to the area or are just looking to try somewhere different, Hide & Seed provides a dining experience to remember.
The kitchen pairs bold produce with subtle flavours, and the result is a menu that revives ingredients with inventive dishes. The chefs at Hide & Seed are inspired by culinary creativity, and are always finding new flavour combinations to perfect their dishes. Ingredients at Hide & Seed are locally sourced wherever possible, some from the hotel’s Essex farm, so you know that each and every dish on the menu is seasonal, fresh and of the highest quality.
Small plates are a perfect way to start a meal, and when I stopped by Hide & Seed for lunch recently with Inna from Start Up Your Happiness, I ordered the homemade croquettes with Spanish ham, cod, and coriander dip (£8) for my starter. First of all, I was impressed with the generous portion size and presentation, I could see that time and effort had gone into the dish. The croquettes were bursting with flavour and tasted delicious. I could have happily eaten another plate of them!
For my main course, I chose the homemade BBQ glazed pork ribs, which was a plate of deboned ribs, caramelised butternut squash, truffle potato cream & polenta cake (£14), with sides of French fries (£3) and green salad (£3). Again, the presentation was immaculate. The pork was packed into a cube and fell apart beautifully, it was incredibly tender, juicy and full of flavour. Then the combination of the butternut squash, truffle potato cream and polenta cake on top of that was just heavenly!
Overall, I was really impressed with the food & drink, warm service and attention to detail at Hide & Seed. Furthermore, the food is very reasonably priced (and dare I say underpriced!). The quality of ingredients and creativity from the kitchen shines through, I can honestly say that I will be back for more croquettes and pork ribs soon!
I would like to thank Zomato UK for organising my visit.
