On my quest to experience as many different yoga classes, with as many different teachers as possible, I came across Yoga West in Chiswick, West London. Yoga West hosts a variety of yoga & Pilates classes, ranging from gentle to dynamic, from London’s best instructors in a beautiful, welcoming and relaxed space. Dynamic yoga tones your body, works your core and helps you to rejuvenate and relax. Gentle yoga helps you switch off, stretch and relax. Pilates isolates difficult to reach muscles and joints and improve body tone, posture and body awareness.
I attended a gentle Vinyasa Flow yoga class on a Saturday morning. From the moment I arrived at Yoga West, I felt really calm and I knew I would enjoy it – the class was full, which is always a positive sign and everyone I met was very friendly. We worked through some of the primary ashtanga series, before focusing on back-bending and stretching & lengthening the leg muscles. The teacher was clear with her instructions and let the class work at their own pace.
The studio is housed in a converted art-deco factory, and features a 1,000-foot studio space, wonderful 12-foot floor-to-ceiling windows and beautiful light. It’s very much a neighbourhood studio, so feels more personal and quaint compared to the city centre studios. Yoga West is a great studio with a fantastic choice of classes and teachers – it’s definitely a place for me to go to on the weekends!
