Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
Having read about Inside Out Barre classes on every health & fitness website out there, it could not have come at a better time when Sweaty Betty invited me to the Inside Out Barre class at Equinox in Kensington.
The innovative ballet-inspired class focuses on small, functional movements at extremely high reps to activate every muscle group from head to toe. The class is a low impact but highly effective workout, which lengthens & strengthens muscles, as well as, improves posture and flexibility – creating longer, leaner muscles.
Sweaty Betty also ensured that I looked the part with a gorgeous new Sweaty Betty Coupe Layered Dance Vest (£50). The lightweight 2-in-1 grey vest is soft with a scoop-back underlayer, detachable cropped top in vintage-feel fabric and a racerback design. The vest was really flattering and perfect for the class.
The historic art deco Derry & Toms building, which houses Equinox, was the stylish setting for the class, which took place in a light, airy and sun-drenched dance studio with beautiful big windows.
The class involved a mix of fitness moves including conditioning intervals, stretching, isometric holds and core work, all inspired by disciplines of ballet, yoga, and Pilates. Half of the class took place on mats and the other half at the ballet barre, with plenty of emphasis on posture and technique – by the end of the class, I was feeling stronger and more flexible. Afterwards, I headed over to Equinox’s juice bar for a big green smoothie and some post workout treats.
Inside Out Barre class is ideal for Londoners who are looking for fun and unique ways to keep fit – after all, there’s nothing more difficult to maintain than a boring, dull fitness regime. It’s perfect for mixing into your existing exercise routine and a great challenge if you’re new to anything ballet-related! Most importantly, your body and overall health will thank you!
