Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
Christmas is only six weeks away and London is beginning to feel festive! I really love seeing all of the Christmas decorations going up, festive food & drink on offer and general Christmas vibe going around, so I was really happy to hear about Lanes of London’s Festive Afternoon Tea which is available throughout the Christmas period. Pairing my love of all things sweet and Christmas joy, the festive afternoon tea and I are a match made in heaven!
Lanes of London is a restaurant and bar located on Park Lane in Mayfair that offers delicious casual dining and a beautiful setting to socialise with friends. It is housed in a gorgeous late Edwardian mansion block that overlooks Hyde Park, giving the restaurant a very classic London feel befitting of the area. On arrival at the restaurant with fellow lifestyle expert, Inna, for the Festive Afternoon Tea, we were both greeted by our wonderfully charming waiter, Giacomo, with a glass of Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial NV champagne!
Our Festive Afternoon Tea started with a delightful selection of finger sandwiches (free range egg mayonnaise & cress; cucumber & mint; honey glazed ham & mustard; and smoked salmon & cream cheese), which were fresh, tasty and light. In fact, they were so good that we ordered some more of the honey glazed ham & mustard and smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches! Next we ate scones with thick clotted cream and strawberry compote, an absolute staple of any afternoon tea set, and perfect for winter.
To top it all off, we ate an incredible section of Christmas-inspired cakes and pastries including a large Christmas pudding macaroon; chocolate & orange opera cake; gingerbread house; coffee & mascarpone yule log; and eggnog with mince pie foam. I honestly could not pick my favourite sweet, they were all mouth-wateringly good and probably the cutest cakes I’ve ever eaten! To accompany our cakes and pastries, we drank White Peony tea, which was herbal and delicate – perfection.
By the time we had finished, we weren’t going anywhere – we were completely full! One of the great things about Lanes of London is the cozy, relaxed and home-like feel. It’s a world away from the hustle and bustle of hectic London, and is great for retreating away from the busy streets, making the ideal setting for a winter afternoon tea.
