Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
I could never tire of yoga, I make time for it no matter what life throws at me. I have experienced more benefits from yoga than any other exercise as it combines both physical and mental disciplines.
My latest yoga adventure took me to the top of The Shard next to London Bridge with Yogasphere and it took my breath away! At a height of 310m, The Shard is the tallest building in Europe and a surprisingly good place to calm your mind and body. The open-level sky high yoga class (£40 for one hour, advanced booking only, mats provided) is instructed by Mandy Jhamat and Leo Lourdes, who also founded Yogasphere, and takes place on the 68th floor in The View from The Shard, a glass atrium viewing platform.
The hour-long class is excellent, Mandy and Leo’s style of teaching is fun, relaxed and easy to follow. I recommend using the mats next to the floor to ceiling windows and not the ones in the middle of the room – just try not to get too distracted by the view!
Looking down from so high up and feeling physically detached from the city really helped to put life into perspective – most things are a lot smaller than I realise. I felt as though I was literally on top of all the madness and chaos that’s associated with the daily grind!
I left feeling rejuvenated and thoroughly relaxed – it was such a memorable experience. Yoga takes you to a higher plane, but when your starting point is already so high to begin with, the end results are stratospheric! The class is the ultimate way to kick-start the weekend, taking you to new heights with 360-degree views over the capital, bringing about a wonderful sense of being in the city, but not.
