Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
On the shores of the South Bank with breath-taking views overlooking Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and the River Thames, the luxurious London Marriott Hotel County Hall boasts one of the capitals most splendid spas: The Spa at County Hall, which is perfectly situated for Londoners who want to take a couple of hours break away from the office!
The hotel conveys a wonderful sense of grandeur with its towering bronze doors and polished marbled floors and with beautiful architecture in every direction, it’s the perfect place to unwind and relax.
The Spa at County Hall is situated across the top two floors of the hotel, adjacent to a heated indoor 25 meter swimming pool, spacious state of the art gym and exercise studios. The swimming pool is one of the few in London to enjoy natural daylight and is the largest within any hotel in London. Prior to my spa treatment, I couldn’t resist having a run in the gym and a swim in the pool!
Treatments at the spa are designed to offer the ultimate in holistic beauty care & supreme relaxation, and range from facials, to body treatments, specialty massages and full day experiences. I chose the Decléor Classic Aromatic Facial (£75 for 55 minutes), a highly personalised facial, specifically designed to meet all of my skincare needs. The treatment promised to gently soothe and stimulate my senses with a delightful combination of touch and essences to induce a profound sense of wellbeing.
My facial began with a wonderfully relaxing diagnostic back massage using a blend of Decléor’s pure essential aromatherapy oils. Hida, my therapist, instantly put me at ease and helped me to leave any thoughts of work and stress at the door. She explained that each part of the back represents a different part of my body and that the parts of the back which feel warm reflect the parts of the body which need special attention. By simply exerting gentle pressure on specific ‘reflex’ areas of the back, she could understanding the areas of my body which would need a little extra TLC during the treatment.
Following my diagnostic back massage, Hida proceeded to cleanse and exfoliate my face before applying serum, with a focus on the pressure points on my face. She then did a lymphatic drainage massage on my face to apply a face balm, the massage is designed to rid the face and body of toxins. Next, an oatmeal face mask was applied, which aids hydration and has anti-aging properties and while the mask settled, I was treated to a soothing hand and arm massage. Finally, Hida applied a toner, eye-cream and moisturiser.
By the end of the treatment, I could really see a difference in my appearance, my complexion was radiant and my skin felt velvety soft. I also felt completely relaxed and rejuvenated, which was perfect as I had a night flight to the USA to catch that afternoon!
The Spa at County Hall combines opulent indulgence with a friendly, personal approach – prepare to emerge refreshed and invigorated! And don’t forget to ask for Hida!
