Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
Aubrey, located in one of my favourite London hotels, The Kensington Hotel, offers stylish surroundings, an international menu to satisfy even the most food-savvy Londoners and a glamorous cocktail bar, which is perfect for after work drinks.
Smart leather chairs, polished wooden floors and chrome chandeliers give the Aubrey a luxurious classic country club feel, but the food’s the real star here! Delicious international dishes with a modern twist created by Head Chef Russell Ford using the freshest seasonal produce, make every meal at the Aubrey an absolute pleasure.
The adjoining cocktail bar, with its slate floors, distressed mirrors, timber-clad walls and blue glass ceiling, is the domain of award-winning mixologist, Alessandro Pizzoli. From the time-honoured classics to something a little more experimental, Pizzoli’s artistry is a delight to behold – my favourite cocktail is The Knightsbridge, which is a mix of champagne, gin, sugar syrup, lemon and lavender.
The menu is impressive and may lead to some serious decision making anxiety! Starters include juicy Seared scallops, heritage tomato dressing & basil and Grilled asparagus, fresh crab & cress. Main courses range from Chicken paillard purple sprout broccoli & preserved lemon to a classic Dry aged beef fillet. Desserts include Baked apple tart & vanilla ice cream and a Warm chocolate fondant. To do this menu justice, you’d have to diner here every night until you’ve had one of everything!
I chose the Spiced crab cakes with coconut & coriander for my starter course followed by a main course of Roast Suffolk lamb with Mediterranean vegetables and bulgar wheat. The crab cakes were so delicate and tasty, they went perfectly with the coconut & coriander sauce. The lamb was simply rich and tender! So mouth-watering, exactly how lamb should be cooked and definitely hit the right spot!
Dessert was an Egg custard tart with ice-cream and rhubarb – a combination which I was interested to try and it couldn’t have been a better mix. Considering I was really full by this point, I managed to finish all of my dessert, which is always a good sign.
Finally, I must mention the excellent staff and amazing service at Aubrey, who all ensured that I had a fantastic experience and did a wonderful job of making the evening memorable.
