Summer is just around the corner and rumour has it, there’s a revolutionary treatment, which promises to lift, shape and tone your body!
Ultratone (£55 for 30 minutes) is the perfect last minute beach plan for Londoners who don’t have time to do their sit-ups and Michaeljohn on Ablemarle Street in Mayfair invited me along to experience the treatment for myself.
On arrival I was a little nervous as I knew the treatment involves ‘electricity’, ‘waves’ and ‘signals’ (scary buzzwords for me!). However, all my fears were put aside when I met my therapist, Capree Minerva, who was excellent throughout, and explained exactly how the treatment works and what to expect.
The Ultratone program imitates the neurological electrical impulses that control the contraction and relaxation of muscles when exercising. Due to the Ultratone’s ability to target specific muscles, it is able to produce a myriad of results from slimming, muscle tone and cellulite reduction to non-surgical facelifts. Each Ultratone program is tailored to the recipient, sending out an appropriate set of signals to achieve the desired result.
Capree then proceeded to attach eight Bioptic pads to my stomach before turning on the machine. Once the micro-currents were being emitted through my body, the first thing I noticed, and thankfully, is that it was not painful at all, in fact, it felt soothing. I was incredibly relieved as the thought that it would be painful had been worrying me all day! Capree used various settings so that I could feel the different intensities, none of which were uncomfortable.
After the treatment, my stomach felt firmer, especially since a 30 minute Ultratone session for the abdominal area is equivalent to 500 stomach crunches!
Capree and the team at Michaeljohn were wonderful, they were welcoming and informative. The whole experience was very unique and the benefits are really impressive – I can’t wait to go back for more!
