Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
Delicious British food is at the heart of Bumpkin restaurant. By working closely with the farmers who supply their ingredients, they ensure they’re ethically sourced, sustainable and, most importantly, the best they can find.
I stopped by Bumpkin Chelsea for a taste of seasonal Britain with fellow London lifestyle blogger, Inna. The menu was a ‘Best of British’ foodies dream come true, full of everything from market garden salads to classic charcoal grills from the ‘Bertha’ BBQ to rich, meaty signature pies. In addition to this, Bumpkin has recently partnered with Julie Montagu, a yogini, health coach and all round wellness warrior to create a range of mouth-watering salads, soups and juices, designed to boost health and vitality.
As soon as we arrived, I ordered the ‘Lean Mean Green Machine’ juice – all of the juices at Bumpkin are made using a hydraulic cold-press, which means you enjoy all the goodness from the fresh, raw fruit and vegetables (nothing goes to waste). The ‘Lean Mean Green Machine’ is a great way to drink your greens and is packed full of green kale, tender stem broccoli, watercress, Cox apple, lemon, lime, spirulina and a pinch of ginger.
For our starters we shared the Goat’s Cheese & Sticky Caramelised Onion Firebread (which is cooked in the ‘Bertha’ BBQ), Portobello Mushrooms topped with a Cheddar Welsh Rarebit and Cornish Crab with Chopped Egg, Crispy Granary Bread and Homemade Cocktail Sauce – as well as a bottle of Sicilian Legato wine. It was all amazing, so tasty and an absolute advertisement for why provenance of food is essential and makes a difference. The portions sizes were extremely generous, so much so that we were almost full from the starters alone!
While Inna chose one of the warming and super nutritious salads for her main course, I opted for an indulgent Aberdeen Angus Fillet Steak with Watercress, Roast Tomato and Chips. Steak and chips is a dish I can rarely ignore and the Bumpkin version certainly did it justice – the steak was cooked to perfection! We also ordered Broccoli with Toasted Almonds and Macaroni Cheese on the side.
As for dessert- we were too full! The manager of the restaurant did his best to tempt us with the Triple Chocolate Truffle Cake and Caramel Sticky Toffee Pudding but neither of us could eat another bite of food.
With a menu that’s brimming with wholesome goodness and hearty portions – I think I have a new favourite restaurant for those days when I need to indulge! I’m also incredibly grateful for the taxi home as I wasn’t planning on walking anywhere!
