Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
I was recently invited to the Duke of Cambridge in Angel, London, which is Britain’s first and only certified organic pub – what a great accolade! The pub serves delicious organic food and drink carefully sourced from independent producers, while keeping the environmental impact and food miles super-low. Over 90% of the fresh fruit and vegetables served comes from organic farms in the South East of England and East Anglia. Furthermore, the pub changes their menu daily according to what’s available – if something isn’t in season, you won’t find it on the menu!
The food was truly brilliant. I started off with some home-baked bread and organic wine, before moving onto a starter of roasted pigeon, celeriac remoulade & jus. The pigeon was juicy and sweet, and I can’t resist celeriac remoulade! For my main course, I chose the MSC Skrei cod fillet with roasted parsnips, red onion, kale and walnut & parsley sauce. The Skrei cod was incredibly light and fluffy with a delicate taste, and the vegetables were the perfect complement. I rounded off my meal by ordering a scrumptious bowl of apple crumble with cream. The wine list at the Duke of Cambridge is also worth a mention, the pub offers a superb range of organic and biodynamic wines from both Old and New Worlds. Familiar grapes and regions nestle alongside rarities from hidden corners of the wine-making world.
I highly recommend anyone looking for a hearty and organic meal to head over to the Duke of Cambridge. Remember, every time we buy organic, we are persuading more farmers to grow and cultivate organic 🙂
