Life, health, happiness, yoga, style, travel, sunshine and endless possibilities…
I have an appetite for real food with real flavours, which isn’t too processed and preferable organic – Daylesford farm shop and café in Pimlico satisfies this craving perfectly!
As one of the most well-known organic farms shop groups in the UK, Daylesford brings a taste of the country to the heart of London. It is a food lovers paradise of organic & seasonal gorgeousness. The farm shop in Pimlico also houses a café that serves food which comes straight from the farm and onto your fork. Their meat and poultry are reared on their farms, fruit and vegetables are from their market garden, bread from their bakery, and cheese, milk & yoghurt from their creamery. When they don’t make a product on their farm, they source from artisan suppliers who share their commitment to quality and sustainability.
Organic food genuinely tastes better than non-organic. Organic farming means that food is produced the way nature intended; free from GM, artificial additives, fertilisers, growth promoters and herbicides. All of Daylesford’s kitchens are certified organic by the Soil Association (only true of a handful of establishments around the country). Furthermore, organic standards ban the use of nasty additives such as MSG, tartrazine and hydrogenated fat common to supermarket prepared food – it is common sense that less chemicals in our food is simply better for us!
On my arrival at the farm shop and café in Pimlico, I was greeted by the Manager, Philip Palmer, who explained the ethos behind the place, as well as talked me through the daily menu. I was also offered some Lemon and Ginger tea with honey while I browsed the shop and café. The menu was uncomplicated, allowing for the brilliance of the ingredients to do all the talking – for my meal, I opted for the slow-braised haunch of Daylesford Venison with smoked bacon, red wine, chestnut mushrooms & celeriac mash and a side of Raw Slaw, comprised of heritage carrots, beets & cabbage with cashews & ginger soy dressing with a Cucumber and Mint juice. The meal was so delicious and incredibly satisfying – I could honestly taste all the different flavours in each dish, all complimenting each other perfectly.
Daylesford’s organic farm shop and café certainly upholds its reputation for high quality, fresh prepared food and delivers friendly & warm service – what more could you ask for?
